I Am Grateful

Teach me Something! The way we choose to perceive life makes all the difference. Choose to see life as the gift it is. Be grateful. Be alive. Gratitude opens the door to freedom. Lessoned learned? Stop focusing on what you don't have in your life and focus on what you're grateful for that is in your life. This may just make all the difference in the world... If you're not living the life you want, it's not too late to make a change. And never worry about what people may think as you prepare a better life for yourself. What other's think of you is none of your business.

If Your Life Sucks, It's because YOU Suck!

Marco here... Teach me Something! The idea that your consciousness is a creator is a concept that has taken roots in science, many different schools of thought, mainstream thinking, and personal growth & self mastery. Think on these things...

All Kids are born geniuses, but are crushed by society itself

All children are born with the potential to become geniuses because nature gave them the gifts of thought, imagination, creativity and curiosity. In other words, children are born with the potential to become creators or scientists. When children are babies, their imagination, creativity and curiosity are very strong, which is why they are always playing with things and their imagination has no limits.

As children get older, society and many times their parents, teach them to suppress their imagination, creativity and curiosity. Society destroys the creativity of children by grading them instead of listening to their needs and paying attention to what makes them learn better. It also teaches children not to question things. As a result, the minds of children become polluted with judgmental thoughts and they lose faith in the power of their imagination and creativity because learning becomes more like a burden.

When it comes to suppressing children’s imagination and creativity, most parents are not even aware that the things that they teach their children are polluting their children’s minds. This is because most parents have been conditioned since the day they were born to think within the conventional matrix and not question things. Because of this, most parents have forgotten how important it is to imagine things and be creative.

To prevent the minds of future generations from being polluted with disempowering knowledge, we must turn to nature for answers and have faith in it. This means that we need to respect the power of thought, imagination and curiosity. These powers of nature are the foundations of geniuses. When these powers are weakened, the minds of children lack creativity and they become more like androids. Another way we can increase the creativity of children is to encourage children to participate in creative arts and peaceful music. These two fields are essential for increasing children’s creativity because they strengthen the power of their imagination.

WHY TEACHERS QUIT

“Teaching is not a profession. It is a never-ending entry-level vocation, divorced from foundational understandings of training, accountability, and advancement. If we are to enact meaningful reform, we must rescue teaching from its status as vocation and volunteerism, and recast it as a profession of rigor, creativity, and unlimited impact.”

-From “Teaching in the 408”

Wow! We had no idea... Just as high school dropout and graduation rates are a persistent issue of concern in the education arena, teacher turnover rates are similarly troubling.
Almost half of teachers leave the field after just five years, according to the National Commission on Teaching and America's Future, and the debate surrounding how to keep teachers in the profession is still evolving. This in-and-out filtering of educators creates discontinuity and costs school districts across the country $2.2 billion annually, according to social action network Take Part.
So why are all these teachers packing up their desks and leaving the classroom? Click below and read on...

OOPSIES! We Forgot to Transfer our 888 #!

Teach me Something! Well, how about don't forget to call your own business line sometimes. Apparently our 888-999-0465 phone line has been asleep since way back in August. It will be up within an hour. So, please calm down, no worries, life will be good again, the Earth will not stop its rotation. All is forgiven! Kinda funny how we found out. One of our customers emailed to send her condolences. She was curious as to what type of work we were doing and asked if we had opened our Taco Shack/Organic Juice Bar. Nope, not yet. Why do you ask? Anyway, it's not like we have millions of calls per day, but in the back of our mind... Oh well, have a wonderful Holiday. We're still here!

Peace Is The Way: Resolving Conflicts Through Peace

Whirled Peas Everyone!

Teach me Something! Did you ever notice how difficult it is to argue with someone who does not care to argue? You can become an instrument of peace in any given moment of your life by deciding that you are not going to use your mind for anything other than peaceful thoughts. This may sound extreme to you when you take into consideration all the difficult people you have to deal with, your financial picture, the illness of a close relative, those rowdy kids in the classroom, the inconsiderate boss you must face,  taxes you owe, outrageous traffic, and on and on. Try taking a breather from your habit of continuously looking for occasions to be non-peaceful. Go to that quiet, serene peaceful place within you that is covered by the outer layers of your material life. It is here that you know what being an instrument of peace means. Here, your emphasis is on giving, rather than receiving, peace.
When you are an instrument of peace, you are not seeking anything, you are a peace provider. You do not seek peace by looking into the lives of others and wishing that they would change so that you could become more peaceful. Rather, you bring your own sense of calm to everyone you encounter.

Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace.
— The Prayer of St. Francis

DOES YOUR CHILD NEED RITALIN? OR JUST MORE SLEEP...

Teach me Something! School is about to start and with that come rules. Remember, when we have rules, we will have rule breakers. But certainly not my little angel! LOL! There are many, many rules in school, especially elementary. When children act up in class, know this: Children respond much differently than adults to many common conditions. Take sleep for example. Did you know that 40% or more of adults suffer from sleep deficit. When this happens, we adults tend to find ourselves dozing on the job or chugging down and energy drink, or coffee. Young children, thank Heaven, don't have this option.
Children respond to sleep deprivation sometimes by fighting it or by mimicking hyperactivity and if your child is sleep deprived, he or she is 25 percent more likely to be diagnosed with a behavioral problem. Children, before puberty need from 9 to 11.5 hours of sleep per night, preferably in a very dark room. 60% or more of today's children are sleep deficient. If your child is having performance issues in school, they may just be overwhelmed or confused. We know that when kids get behind in school work, they often stop working all together or seek other ways to entertain themselves. Over activity emerges as a way to pass the time.
Even if your child is a gifted student and has mastered all the material others find difficult, they may possibly distract the other children while waiting for the rest of the class to catch up. We wonder just how many kids' alleged hyperactivity would go away if they only got more sleep...

THERE IS NEVER A REASON TO HATE!

Be the Influence!

Hello! Teach me Something! And this message is dedicated to all of our children. Hate is nothing but the absence of Love! Do something with love, forget about hate. If you love well, hate should disappear. We believe hate to be a disease, call it a cancer of the soul...
It is only through love and laughter and a tremendous joy in life that you start feeling the presence of something that is beyond. When life becomes an adventure, a dance of ecstasy, then only do you move beyond the confinement of the body and the mind and soar high towards the infinite. It's impossible to hate when you love yourself! Remember, if you go thru life looking for a reason to be offended, you'll certainly find one. Let's go back in history...Had we been alive in 1775, we would have been told to hate the English, then thirty years later we would have been taught to hate the French. Fifty years later, let's hate the people from the North, or the South, then the Spaniards, the Japanese, the Germans, then the Russians and the Iranians, the Taliban, the blacks, the reds, the browns! Why? Only the faces change. When will we learn that the enemy is hatred itself! Rumi taught us that the same force that grows my fingernails, grows yours. As we see it, if we could learn to never harbor resentment or anger towards another person for not looking at life the same way as you, the world might just become a better place! It is always better to be kind, than right! Live your life. Live your dream, and please don't die with your music still in you!

5 Misconceptions about Unschooling!

http://www.educationreformbooks.net/images/UnschoolingT.jpg

Hey! Teach me something! The parents of home schoolers get asked a lot of questions. It's understandable, as the lifestyle we have chosen definitely goes against the grain of societal norms. Some conformists actually argue that our kids won't be prepared for the real world because they aren't socialized in school.  Pardon me for any typos from here on out, but I can't help but laugh out loud at this common misconception. As if herd pressure to look, dress, or behave a certain way is required to function in the world. Or that facing daily bullies is necessary to toughen somebody up for the "real" world.  Or that learning about sex or relationships is better taught by confused pubescent middle-school peers who claim to be experts because they've gotten to second base.  It's nonsense.

WHY SELF EDUCATE?

Hey! Teach me something! Education is both the end result, and the process of, learning with the best focus of such learning on improving someone’s knowledge base, analytical capabilities and skill sets in order to improve both their personal and professional lives. Quite a mouthful, eh? Our current educational model is quite antiquated! Do you realize that before 1960, self-education was a highly desirable and acceptable form of education. When the astronauts were chosen, the first requirement was a college education. This eliminated the man who made space flight possible, Chuck Yeager.  His formal education was limited to high school. From that time on, society no longer recognized self-educated people. Today, it is becoming a lost art.
